One of the hazy issues of these current times, is people trying and claiming to know God apart from His Son. What I mean is, there is much spirituality that is even encouraged in the church which disregards or at least minimizes the importance of Christ, who alone gives us access to God the Father. When we depart from the centrality of Christ as the source of revelation and acceptance with God, we leave behind us the clearness and authoritative nature of the message.
The Bible is very clear, that no one can understand or know God the Father without knowing and receiving the Son. God is holy and we are sinful, and cannot possibly hope to have access and acceptance with the Father, without the Sons intermediary work. John 1:18 NAS.
No one has seen God at any time, the only begotten God, who is in the bosom of the Father, He has explained Him.
Not only does Jesus reveal God to us, He also explains Him and correctly interprets God to us. So many people claim to know God, and yet apart from Christ, we have to admit, they are worshiping a god of their own imagination. The revelation of the Fathers heart has been fully expressed to us through His Son. John 3:16 Holman
For God loved the world in this way. He gave His one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life.
This is a more accurate translation from the Greek, that it was in this way God loved the world, He gave His one and only Son. The Father will only communicate and correspond with us through His Son, never outside of Him or apart from Him. The Bible is very clear in Jesus’ own words, John 14:6.NAS.
Jesus said to him, I am the way, and the truth, and the life, no one comes to the Father, but through me.
Even though Jesus said this, it doesn’t stop people from attempting to find God through other means. I think this is a much bigger problem in the church of God than we realize. A false sense of spirituality is formed when Christ isn’t central in our thinking. Our biggest need is for a Mediator, seeing as we cannot find God ourselves, we need someone who can correctly represent God and find God for us, and that is Christ. There is truly only one Mediator between God and man, the man Christ Jesus. 1 Tim 2:5 NAS. Jesus is the one who secures our salvation and who ensures that we cannot lose our salvation. He is there for us if we have sinned. And it is important for us to recognize that He is the one who has been provided by God the Father. 1 John 2:1. NAS.
My little children, I am writing these things to you that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous.
The word Advocate in the Greek is Parakletos, one called alongside to help, shows how Christ has been provided for us. Our help is a divine Help. We should put all our eggs in one basket and give up on all our other hopes. Christ is our surety and our assurance before God the Father. He is the one who gains us access with God the Father, and insures our acceptance with the Father, put your trust in Him!
