Today I feel the need to speak on Jesus as our judge. The bible is very clear, there is a judgment to come, yet very few people prepare themselves for what’s about to come. Heb 9:27. It seems we spend our whole lives living for the here and now, without giving any thought to what’s coming after death. Or if we have the unfortunate experience of someone bringing it up to us, we cast it aside for a more convenient time, and never seem to get around to it. Acts 24:24-27.
We avoid thoughts about the future Judgment so much, it takes a real work of the Holy Spirit in our hearts, to bring us to a point where we are willing to hear it, otherwise we will always keep putting it off for a future time, and will never get around to it.
First of all I would like to establish from scripture, that there is a future judgment that hasn’t happened yet, but will at some point in the future and it is something we must prepare ourselves for. That day and that specific time has already been fixed by God, and He has assured us of this future event, by raising Jesus from the dead. Acts 17:30-31. Its going to happen, but we live like its never going to.
Not only is the Bible clear, there will be a judgment, but it also tells us who the Judge will be. Jesus Christ. John 5:22.
How will Jesus judge us? Fairly, justly, righteously. In many cases for the believer mercifully and graciously. But the Bible gives us indication of how He will judge us. I must warn you as a fellow sinner, that Jesus said, “unless your righteousness exceeds that of the scribes and Pharisees, you will in no way enter the kingdom of heaven.” Mat 5:20.
The reason why we will not get in on our own righteousness, is because of the perfection and accuracy of the Judgment by the Judge.
1. For every idle word spoken. Matthew 12:36,37.
2. We will be searched and examined by the Lord. Heb 4:12,13.
3. The conscience records everything we’ve done, whether good or bad, and will be opened like a book before God. He will in a sense simply read our lives back to us. Rom 2:14-16.
4. Many will try and gain access and by-pass the judgment seat, by their great religious works. Mat 7:22.

When we look at how Jesus will judge us, why are there still so many who think their own goodness will get them in? If this describes you, you’ve already passed judgment on yourself, you’re not like other men, but we must warn you, you are not your own Judge. 1 Corinthians 4:3,4,5.

Conclusion: I am saying these things to warn you, so you may be prepared in Christ, for when that day comes, upon receiving Christ prior to this, you will realize, Christ was judged in your place on the cross. Outside of the cross, you will have to pay for your sins yourself, eternally.

What we do now, will determine our eternity. Whether we receive or reject His own words. John 12:48. God bless you!
